The Toronto municipal election takes place on Monday, October 26, 2026, with polls open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters will choose a mayor, a city councillor for their ward and a school board trustee.

Toronto municipal election voting locations

Eligible voters must cast their ballots at their assigned election-day location. They can find it on their Voter Information Card or through the Toronto Elections website.

Anyone in line by 8 p.m. can still vote after polls close. The city has suggested voting between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. to avoid excessive lineups and encourages voters to bring a paper or digital Voter Information Card.

The elections website also lets residents check the voters’ list, review identification and accessibility information, and view a sample ballot and ward candidates.

Mayor, council and school board races

There are 53 candidates running for mayor. In three council races, Ward 19 Beaches-East York has 13 candidates, Ward 20 Scarborough Southwest has eight and Ward 14 Toronto-Danforth has 18.

Voters can also choose a trustee for the school board they are eligible to vote for, based on their address and school board eligibility. The four boards are the Toronto District School Board, Toronto Catholic District School Board, Conseil scolaire Viamonde and Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir.
