The Congress rally planned for November 1, 2026, in Delhi aims to mobilize one million people against alleged vote theft and a revision of electoral rolls, All India Mahila Congress president Alka Lamba said.
Key Takeaways
- The party plans to hold the rally at Ramlila Maidan.
- Lamba called for the electoral-roll revision to stop and for a return to paper ballots.
Congress rally centers on voter-roll concerns
Speaking at a press conference in Shimla on October 26, Lamba said Congress wanted citizens and voters from across India to attend the rally. The one-million figure is the party’s mobilization target, not a confirmed attendance count.
Congress alleges that the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls could affect voters’ rights. Lamba also demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, action against him and cancellation of his decisions.
Party plans to approach the president
Lamba said Congress, under opposition leader Rahul Gandhi, would seek an appointment with India’s president alongside leaders of the INDIA bloc to present concerns and supporting documents. She said the party had also approached the Supreme Court over the issue.
Lamba accused the BJP of trying to undermine the campaign and the proposed rally. Congress says it will continue to challenge what it alleges are electoral irregularities.
