Naval innovation needs to be translated into operational capabilities more quickly, Indian Navy Chief Admiral Krishna Swaminathan said at the Swavlamban 2026 seminar in New Delhi on October 26.
Naval innovation and emerging technology
Speaking at the seminar’s plenary session, Swaminathan urged stakeholders to stay ahead of the technology curve. He said advances in artificial intelligence and autonomous systems should be used to strengthen naval capabilities.
He also called for sustained efforts toward Atmanirbharta, or self-reliance, in the Navy. His remarks were a call to accelerate the use of innovation, not an announcement of a specific technology deployment.
Seminar continues in New Delhi
The Navy is hosting the fifth edition of its annual Swavlamban seminar at the Manekshaw Centre on October 26 and 27, 2026.
