PTC India’s board has approved plans for a wholly owned subsidiary to establish and operate a mineral exchange in India, with an equity investment of up to ₹65 crore. The October 26, 2026 decision is subject to the Indian Bureau of Mines granting an extension to the application deadline.
PTC India outlines subsidiary funding
The proposed exchange would offer delivery-based electronic trading in permitted minerals and related areas, PTC India said in an exchange filing. The power trading company would be the promoter of the special-purpose vehicle.
PTC India said it would subscribe in cash to all of the subsidiary’s initial paid-up share capital. The initial subscription would be ₹10 crore for one crore equity shares at ₹10 apiece.
Application and registration steps
The Indian Bureau of Mines has invited applications from companies seeking to establish and operate a mineral exchange, with submissions due by November 2, 2026. PTC India said it has requested more time.
The company plans to submit its application after the subsidiary is incorporated. Registration would require prescribed conditions to be met and central government approval; the board decision does not mean the exchange has been registered or is operating.
