Speciality Restaurants expansion plans call for ₹200 crore of internally funded investment over four years, with the operator of Mainland China and Oh! Calcutta aiming to grow from about 120 outlets to 200 by FY30. The company is also targeting annual revenue growth of 20%.

Key Takeaways

  • The company plans to add around 20 to 25 restaurants a year and target a four-year payback on new investments.
  • Three refurbished Mainland China restaurants recorded revenue increases of approximately 35%, CEO Avik Chatterjee said.
  • FY26 revenue rose 9.2%, while profit attributable to shareholders fell 5.7%.

Speciality Restaurants expansion priorities

The NSE- and BSE-listed company plans to concentrate on fewer established brands, prioritising Asian, Italian and quick-service formats. Chatterjee said the company had previously opened too many brands rather than focusing on expanding them.

The reassessment followed the pandemic, during which the company closed 32 outlets. Its plans now envisage about 10 new full-service restaurants annually, with roughly 60% in Oriental and 40% in Italian formats, alongside quick-service expansion.

Asian cuisine accounts for approximately half the company’s business. Its brands in the segment include Mainland China, Asia Kitchen, Gong and delivery brand Haka.

Renovations and brand focus

Chatterjee said three refurbished Mainland China restaurants recorded revenue increases of approximately 35% after renovation and EBITDA margins of 22% to 25%. The company plans to upgrade existing restaurants as well as open new ones.

Italian concept Siciliana has four restaurants, with another four planned. Gourmet burger brand Walters has four physical outlets and a dark-kitchen presence.

By contrast, the eight Oh! Calcutta restaurants are being repositioned rather than prioritised for aggressive expansion. Sigree Global Grill, which has four profitable outlets, is also not an immediate rollout priority.

FY26 results and sales growth

For the financial year ended March 2026, revenue from operations rose to ₹476.47 crore from ₹436.25 crore. Profit attributable to shareholders fell to ₹20.72 crore from ₹21.97 crore, even as gross margin improved to 70.7% from 69.5%.

Same-store sales growth accelerated from 2.4% in FY26 to 11.35% in the April–June 2026 quarter. The company’s 20% annual revenue growth target is an ambition, not a reported result.
