The Dela Rosa warrant could leave Philippine Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa more exposed to arrest abroad than at home, fellow Senator Panfilo Lacson said on October 26, 2026.
Dela Rosa warrant linked to drug war inquiry
The International Criminal Court warrant is linked to its investigation into alleged crimes against humanity connected to the Duterte administration’s war on drugs.
In a radio interview, Lacson said the warrant’s international nature would make it harder for Dela Rosa to find refuge overseas. He contrasted it with a Philippine-issued warrant, under which he said a person might seek refuge in a country without an extradition treaty with the Philippines.
Lacson calls for due process
Lacson warned against denying Dela Rosa due process in response to alleged extrajudicial killings during the previous administration.
On October 25, Lacson said he hoped that, if Dela Rosa were arrested, it would be peaceful and without bloodshed.
