Uttar Pradesh elections were the focus of a public meeting on October 25, 2026, where AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said his party would make every effort to prevent the BJP from forming another state government.
Uttar Pradesh elections and opposition cooperation
Speaking in Kairana in Shamli district, Owaisi said the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen was ready to join hands with other opposition parties if they shared that objective.
He also said he did not want Yogi Adityanath to become Uttar Pradesh chief minister for a third term. Owaisi did not announce an agreement with another party at the meeting.
Criticism of opposition parties
Owaisi criticized opposition parties for what he described as a failure to raise issues affecting minorities and other weaker sections of society.
He also alleged that mosques had been demolished and that “half encounters” were continuing under the BJP-led state government, while opposition parties remained silent.
