Manipur Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh made a Sinai Camp visit on October 25, 2026, after security forces disarmed and took over the designated militant shelter in Kangpokpi district.
Sinai Camp visit follows joint operation
The camp is a designated shelter for militants covered by the Suspension of Operations agreement. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) took control after a joint operation involving its CoBRA unit, Manipur Police and other security agencies.
The operation followed the recent killing of three firewood collectors near Nongshum in Imphal East district. Security personnel found 17 people at the camp who were impersonating registered cadres using false identities. The camp was supposed to house about 150 cadres.
Chief minister calls for care during searches
At the camp, Singh said lasting peace in Manipur could not be achieved while gun culture persisted. In discussions with senior security officers, he also said care should be taken to ensure innocent civilians were not affected by combing operations.
