Nickel Asia awards at the 2026 Asia Corporate Excellence and Sustainability (ACES) event recognized the listed natural resources company and its founder across three categories. The honors were conferred in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on October 15 and 16, 2026.

Nickel Asia awards span three categories

Founder and chairman emeritus Manuel Zamora Jr. received the Industry Pioneer Award. Nickel Asia was also named one of the Industry Champions of the Year and received the Green Initiative Award for its OneNAC Vision.

Zamora credited workers, engineers and community partners for helping build the company. He also recalled the development of Rio Tuba and the introduction of high-pressure acid leach, or HPAL, processing in the Philippines.

Land restoration and energy portfolio

Chief sustainability officer Jose Bayani Baylon said Nickel Asia had restored more than 1,200 hectares of land using sequential planting. He also cited the company’s work to advance a 292-megawatt renewable energy portfolio through NAC Energy.

Baylon said the recognition reflected the company’s view that long-term profitability and environmental stewardship should go together.
