The University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons improved to 7-2, breaking their tie with the NU Bulldogs at the top of the standings. The loss left the Red Warriors winless at 0-9.

The game was played at the Ateneo Blue Eagle Gym.

Pre leads the Fighting Maroons

Veejay Pre led UP with 14 points, six rebounds and five assists. Gani Stevens added 13 points and five rebounds.

UP outscored UE 26-11 in the final quarter. The Maroons' largest lead was 34 points, at 101-67, after a Kio Franco basket in the final 46 seconds.
