Shabari Naturals, a Maharashtra government initiative that markets products associated with tribal communities and forest gatherers, has won a global design award for packaging inspired by traditional art forms.

Key Takeaways

  • The packaging features Warli, Gond and Chitrakathi art and references tribal cultural traditions.
  • The award is scheduled to be presented in Tokyo on November 4, 2026.

Shabari Naturals packaging wins recognition

The international jury of the Good Design Award, also known as G-Mark, selected the packaging for its cultural value, sustainability and presentation, officials said. The brand had previously received the India Design Mark award.

The recognition gives Shabari Naturals the right to display the G-Mark logo on its packaging. Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the award during his Mann Ki Baat radio broadcast on October 25, 2026.

Products and tribal artwork

The social enterprise is managed by the Nashik-headquartered Shabari Tribal Finance and Development Corporation. Its products include wild honey, unpolished rice, pulses, millets, spices and handmade traditional artefacts.

Corporation Managing Director Leena Bansod said the award also increased the brand’s responsibility, adding that tribal communities were the real recipients of the recognition.

Next milestone

Bansod is scheduled to receive the award on behalf of the state government at the Tokyo presentation.
