At the Taiwan film festival in Delhi, Taiwan’s representative to India, Mumin Chen, expressed hope that Indian and Taiwanese filmmakers and actors would work together and that Indian productions would shoot in Taiwan.
Taiwan film festival highlights hopes for cooperation
Chen said Indian stars Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan have fans in Taiwan and that a visit by either would make big news. He said the actors had not previously visited Taiwan.
The representative, who heads the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in India, pointed to Taiwan’s landscapes and modern cities as potential settings for Indian films. His comments expressed a wish for future cooperation; no specific production or visit was announced.
Films and audiences
Chen said Taiwanese audiences are increasingly watching Bollywood films through Netflix and other streaming platforms. He also said some Taiwanese visitors to the festival are fans of Indian culture who study Indian art and dance.
The festival is showing six films, including Dear Tenant, Alifu and Hero! Hito!, a documentary about Taiwan’s national baseball team. Its Delhi chapter was scheduled to conclude on October 25, 2026.
Next milestone
The festival is scheduled to travel to Mumbai for the first time on October 31, 2026.
