Coinbase customer data was exposed in a security incident at analytics vendor Amplitude, the cryptocurrency exchange said on October 28, 2026. Coinbase said its own systems were not breached and customer funds were not affected.

Coinbase customer data exposure

Coinbase Support said contact information belonging to a “small subset” of its customers was exposed. The incident also affected other Amplitude clients, it said.

Coinbase did not specify how many of its customers were affected. The available disclosure did not identify which types of contact information were exposed.

A separate 2025 incident

The Amplitude incident is separate from a data breach Coinbase disclosed in May 2025 that affected less than 1% of its monthly transacting users.

In Coinbase’s May 2025 filing, the company said the earlier incident involved people in support roles accessing data from internal systems. At the time, Coinbase preliminarily estimated remediation and voluntary customer reimbursement expenses at approximately $180 million to $400 million; that estimate did not concern the Amplitude incident.
