L&T shares rose more than 4% to ₹3,894 on the National Stock Exchange during trading on October 28, 2026, after the engineering and construction company reported a 33% year-over-year rise in quarterly net profit. Jefferies maintained its Buy rating but lowered its price target.

L&T shares climb as revenue grows

Larsen & Toubro was the top gainer on the Sensex and Nifty amid broader market weakness. The price was an intraday observation, not a closing figure.

Consolidated net profit reached ₹5,202 crore in the second quarter of fiscal 2027. Revenue from operations rose 16% to ₹78,750 crore from ₹67,984 crore a year earlier.

Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation, or EBITDA, increased about 0.6% to ₹6,845 crore from ₹6,806 crore. That was a much slower increase than the rise in revenue.

Why Jefferies cut its target

Jefferies reduced its target to ₹4,700 per share from ₹5,000 while keeping its Buy rating. The brokerage said quarterly EBITDA was 5% below its expectations and that the engineering and construction margin of 7.2% was 56 basis points lower than a year earlier.

The brokerage said it had factored in lower margins following the first-half performance. It also said first-half order flow rose 22% year over year, ahead of the pace implied by L&T’s annual order-flow growth guidance of 10% to 12%.

Jefferies said management maintained its fiscal 2027 engineering and construction margin estimate and revenue growth guidance of 10% to 12%. For investors tracking updates, L&T’s investor events page showed no events available when checked on October 28.
