The DTCC tokenization service launched on October 28, 2026, allowing eligible users to create digital representations of securities held by The Depository Trust Company (DTC). Twenty clients have signed agreements to access the service, DTCC said.

How the DTCC tokenization service works

DTC, a subsidiary of The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), says its tokenization service lets eligible users convert securities entitlements between traditional and tokenized forms and deliver them to digital wallets.

The tokenized representations retain the ownership rights, investor protections and economic entitlements of their traditional counterparts. DTC holds more than $114 trillion in assets under custody; that figure is not the value of securities tokenized through the new service.

Client access and network plans

The 20 DTC participants that have signed agreements include Citadel Securities, Citi, Fidelity Investments and JPMorgan. DTCC said future users will be onboarded on a rolling basis.

The service is integrated with Canton Network and DTCC’s private Besu network. DTCC plans to add more blockchain networks in 2027.

In December 2025, the US Securities and Exchange Commission issued a no-action letter concerning DTC’s proposed tokenization program. DTCC said the letter covered Russell 1000 constituents, exchange-traded funds tracking major indices and US Treasury securities.
