The Vedanta investment plan calls for about $25 billion over three years to expand existing businesses, founder and chairman Anil Agarwal said in Kolkata on October 28, 2026.
Vedanta investment plan focuses on existing assets
Agarwal said the capital spending would target organic growth in aluminium, copper, zinc, oil and gas through brownfield expansions. Such projects increase capacity at existing assets rather than relying on new acquisitions.
Vedanta Limited’s earlier brownfield expansion strategy describes how it evaluates expansion opportunities across its existing portfolio. That strategy does not establish the newly reported group-wide spending target.
The group remains open to buying public-sector assets if opportunities arise, Agarwal said. He also said the spending would support ambitions to become one of the world’s largest critical-metals mining companies and a leading silver producer within three to four years.
Revenue ambition and funding
Agarwal said the group, which comprises 10 major companies, aims to grow its overall business from $30 billion to $50 billion within three years. The $50 billion revenue figure is an ambition, not a reported result.
He said internal cash generation could fund the ongoing capital expenditure and described debt levels as comfortable. Vedanta Resources, the top-tier holding company, had about $5 billion in borrowings against assets valued at more than $100 billion, he said. Agarwal added that dividends from majority-owned shares and cash flows from subsidiaries were more than enough to service that debt.
Renewable energy capacity
Agarwal said the group had around 5,000 megawatts of renewable energy capacity and planned to add another 5,000 MW over the following one to one-and-a-half years. The additional capacity is a plan, not completed capacity.
