Vedanta shares in the group’s separately listed power and oil and gas businesses rose on October 30, 2026, after both companies reported a return to profit for the September quarter.
Vedanta shares gain after quarterly results
Vedanta Power traded at ₹31.80 on the National Stock Exchange on Friday morning, up more than 10%. Vedanta Oil and Gas rose 13.5% to ₹31.62. The moves followed the earnings announcements, though the available information does not establish what caused them.
Both companies listed separately on June 15 alongside Vedanta Aluminium Metal and Vedanta Iron and Steel. The chairman’s message on Vedanta’s demerger into five independent entities describes the separation and listings.
Both businesses return to annual profit
Vedanta Power reported net profit of ₹83 crore for the second quarter of fiscal 2027, compared with a ₹1,688 crore loss a year earlier and a ₹423 crore loss in the preceding quarter. Revenue from operations rose 38% year over year to ₹2,908 crore, while EBITDA increased 122% to ₹421 crore.
Vedanta Oil and Gas posted consolidated net profit of ₹746 crore, compared with a ₹91 crore loss a year earlier. Profit was lower than the ₹945 crore reported in the preceding quarter. Revenue rose a little over 6% year over year to ₹2,488 crore, and EBITDA increased 34% to ₹1,393 crore.
The oil and gas company attributed the EBITDA increase to higher price realizations and continued cost optimization.
Prices remain below June listing levels
Despite Friday’s gains, both stocks were trading below their June 15 listing prices. Vedanta Power listed at ₹41.80 and reached nearly ₹50 in early July before falling to a record low of ₹27.50 earlier in the week.
Vedanta Oil and Gas listed at ₹38 and reached a record high of ₹47.60 in early July. It fell to a record low of ₹26.41 in the preceding week; Friday’s move took it above ₹30 for the first time in nearly two weeks.
