Bitcoin ETF outflows reached $635.49 million in the United States on October 22, 2026, ending three consecutive sessions of net inflows as Bitcoin fell below $82,000. SoSoValue data showed the largest daily net withdrawal since June 25, with BlackRock and Fidelity funds accounting for approximately 74% of the total.

Key Takeaways

  • The outflow reversed part, but not all, of the approximately $1.08 billion received over the preceding three sessions.
  • Bitcoin closed at $81,416.09 on Binance, down 3.18% from the previous session.

Bitcoin ETF outflows concentrate in two large funds

BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust and Fidelity’s Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund led the withdrawals. ARK 21Shares, Grayscale and Bitwise products also recorded outflows, while Morgan Stanley’s MSBT attracted $2.33 million.

The reversal followed $528.41 million of net inflows on October 21. BlackRock’s fund alone lost more on October 22 than the $235 million it had attracted in the previous session.

October’s cumulative net flows stood at approximately $174.5 million in withdrawals after the session. Nevertheless, cumulative net inflows since the funds’ launch remained positive at $57.32 billion, and total net assets stood at $104.71 billion, SoSoValue data showed.

Bitcoin declines as leveraged positions are liquidated

Bitcoin’s October 22 close on Binance was down from $84,093.42 in the prior session and roughly 5.9% below its October 4 daily closing high of $86,530. Ether also traded below $2,400.

CoinGlass data showed approximately $406 million in cryptocurrency positions were liquidated over 24 hours, affecting nearly 90,000 traders. Long positions accounted for most of the liquidations.

The ETF withdrawals and price decline occurred together, but the figures do not establish that either caused the other. A single session also does not establish a lasting change in demand, particularly after the preceding three-day inflow streak.

Federal Reserve meeting is the next scheduled policy event

The Federal Reserve’s October 2026 meeting schedule lists the next Federal Open Market Committee meeting for October 27–28. October 28 is therefore the final day of a two-day meeting, rather than a standalone meeting date.

The calendar establishes the timing of the policy meeting, not its outcome or the direction of subsequent cryptocurrency prices and fund flows.

Conclusion

The October 22 withdrawals interrupted a strong run of inflows without wiping it out entirely. The October 27–28 Federal Reserve meeting is the next scheduled policy event to watch as subsequent ETF flow data show whether the reversal persists.
