A Cellectar case study found that one patient with an aggressive form of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma remained in complete response more than eight years after receiving a single dose of the company’s experimental cancer treatment, iopofosine I 131.
Key Takeaways
- The patient had received four prior lines of therapy and a stem cell transplant before treatment in March 2018.
- As of May 2026, she had experienced no disease progression and needed no further anticancer therapy, Cellectar said.
- The company expects to begin dosing in a separate Phase 3 study for Waldenström macroglobulinemia in the first quarter of 2027.
What the Cellectar case study showed
Cellectar Biosciences reported the case on October 27, 2026. The patient, a 53-year-old woman with high-grade, double-hit diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, received a 57.5 mCi dose of iopofosine I 131 on March 20, 2018.
She achieved a partial response or better by day 48 and a complete response by day 85, confirmed by investigators and the company’s assessment. The target lesion had resolved by day 85.
The patient experienced anemia, lymphopenia, thrombocytopenia and neutropenia, which Cellectar said all resolved. The result describes one patient and does not establish how other patients with the disease will respond.
Separate trial and filing plans
Iopofosine I 131 is designed to deliver iodine-131 to cancer cells. Cellectar has also studied it in relapsed or refractory Waldenström macroglobulinemia, a different B-cell malignancy.
Chief Executive James Caruso said the company expects to begin patient dosing in a confirmatory Phase 3 study in Waldenström macroglobulinemia in the first quarter of 2027. Cellectar also plans to submit an accelerated approval application to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in the first half of 2027.
The company plans to submit the lymphoma case findings for journal publication or presentation at a medical meeting.
