RecycLiCo Battery Materials and Alaska Energy Metals have begun testing concentrate samples from the Eureka deposit in Alaska to assess whether RecycLiCo’s processing technology can recover metals from the project’s output.
Key Takeaways
- The samples were derived from drill core collected during the 2023–2024 exploration campaigns.
- Testing is taking place at RecycLiCo’s laboratory in Delta, British Columbia.
- Alaska Energy Metals is exploring multiple hydrometallurgical testing options for the concentrate.
Eureka deposit samples enter laboratory testing
The companies announced the start of testing on October 27, 2026. RecycLiCo prepared the testing protocol, which Alaska Energy Metals approved.
The work follows a previously announced memorandum of understanding between Alaska Energy Metals and RecycLiCo’s U.S. subsidiary. The agreement covers an assessment of how RecycLiCo’s hydrometallurgical technology could be used to refine output from the deposit, part of the Nikolai Nickel Project.
The search for a processing method
The Eureka deposit contains nickel, copper, cobalt, chromium, platinum, palladium, gold and iron. The companies said recently reported locked cycle flotation tests showed strong recoveries of metals into a bulk nickel-copper concentrate.
Alaska Energy Metals is exploring multiple hydrometallurgical testing routes as it seeks an extraction technique for downstream processing. The RecycLiCo work is an assessment, not a completed demonstration of how its method performs on the concentrate.
RecycLiCo interim CEO Richard Sadowsky said the company expects to demonstrate the benefits of its processing methods. Alaska Energy Metals CEO Gregory Beischer said he was interested in seeing how the process recovers the different metals from the Eureka concentrate.
