Qingo rice brew is set to launch on the market in November 2026, following a public tasting in May by Chinese liquor brand Zhutian Yanjiu. The company has not specified launch markets, pricing or the drink’s alcohol content.
Key Takeaways
- Zhutian Yanjiu debuted the product at a conference in Zhejiang Province in May 2026.
- A group standard covering the Qinggu brewing process took effect on April 27, 2026.
Qingo rice brew moves toward launch
Zhutian Yanjiu, a subsidiary of Zeal (Shanghai) Holdings, presented Qingo at the fourth World Brand Moganshan Conference in Deqing City. The company says the November launch follows six months of preparation.
The announcement describes ambitions for a global market but does not identify countries where Qingo will be available or provide a distribution timetable beyond the planned November launch.
An old brew and a new process standard
The company says Qingo was a ceremonial brew during the Shang Dynasty more than 3,000 years ago and later disappeared from production. It traces the name to the Book of Songs, an ancient Chinese collection of poetry.
Zeal subsidiary Zhuzhou Midaofu Liquor says it spent more than two years researching and restoring the beverage using the Wen Family Ancient Brewing Technique. The resulting product is described as a naturally fermented rice brew without chemical additives.
The group standard developed under Zeal’s leadership covers raw materials, a seven-step fermentation process, microbiological safety requirements and testing methods for compounds. Organizations involved included the Daxing District Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Beijing.
