Converge CEO raises governance concerns
Uy, co-founder and CEO of fiber broadband and technology provider Converge ICT Solutions, spoke at the 52nd Philippine Business Conference and Expo on October 14, 2026. He urged continued government efforts to create an enabling environment for artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies.
He said global investors and foreign partners saw potential in the Philippines, but that corruption and red tape were obstacles. “Corruption holds back our progress. Red tape chokes our small businesses,” Uy said.
Digital initiatives and public concerns
Uy identified Executive Order No. 119, series of 2026, establishing a Data Residency Framework, and the creation of a Center for AI Research as important steps for the country’s digital ecosystem.
On October 15, Pulse Asia Research reported that corruption and inflation were the top two issues concerning Filipinos in its latest Ulat ng Bayan survey.
Converge has worked with the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry on digital initiatives. In 2025, the company and the chamber brought more than 85 local and international technology brands together at the business conference and expo.
