The analog TV switch-off in Mega Manila will begin on November 22, 2026, as the Philippines moves television broadcasts to a digital standard. The transition covers Metro Manila and six surrounding provinces.
Where the analog TV switch-off applies
The National Telecommunications Commission’s switch-off covers Metro Manila and the provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Rizal, Laguna, Pampanga and Bataan.
Under an NTC circular issued in November 2025, television stations in those areas must migrate to the Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting-Terrestrial, or ISDB-T, standard within 12 months of the circular taking effect.
Viewer preparations and other areas
NTC Deputy Commissioner Alvin Blanco said television networks have been preparing information materials and public service announcements for viewers, particularly those who still rely on analog broadcasts.
A Kantar Media Philippines survey commissioned by the Department of Information and Communications Technology found that about 80 percent of TV households in Mega Manila had received digital broadcasts as of December 2024.
Digital television can carry several programs on one broadcast channel and support emergency warnings. Blanco said the NTC would assess readiness elsewhere before setting switch-off schedules and plans public information campaigns in those areas.
