Key Takeaways

- New Black Shark tap sizes extend the range for high-strength steel to M24.
- Dormer Pramet did not disclose prices in the announcement.
Dormer Pramet tools for milling
The STD11 and STD17 shoulder milling series use triangular inserts with three cutting edges. STD11 supports cutting depths of up to 7 mm, while STD17 supports up to 11 mm. Dormer Pramet said internal and customer tests showed higher productivity and a lower cost per workpiece.
The company also expanded its solid carbide chamfer mill range for chamfering, deburring and edge profiling. The tools are available in metric and inch sizes, with three point angles and three- to six-flute geometries.
Taps and inserts target demanding materials
The Black Shark tap range for high-strength steel now includes M16, M20 and M24 sizes, extending its diameter coverage from M3 to M24. The taps are designed for difficult-to-machine materials including Hardox, Toolox and Armox.
The new BNMX 10 inserts are intended for high-feed roughing in steel and cast iron. They complement the existing BNGX insert range and are compatible with SBN10 cutter bodies in cylindrical, modular and shell mill configurations.
