UroGen Pharma said on October 28, 2026, that final JELMYTO study results showed lasting responses among a group of patients treated for low-grade upper tract urothelial cancer. Of 20 patients in a long-term follow-up, 15 remained event-free as of March 2025.

Key Takeaways

  • The follow-up included patients who had achieved a complete response after JELMYTO treatment, not all patients in the original trial.
  • No progression to high-grade disease was observed in the long-term follow-up group.

JELMYTO study follow-up results

The final OLYMPUS follow-up results were published in Therapeutic Advances in Urology. Among all 41 trial patients who achieved a complete response after initial JELMYTO treatment, the median duration of response was 47.8 months, with median follow-up of 28.1 months.

Twenty of those patients entered the long-term follow-up study, where median follow-up was 53.3 months. The median duration of response for that group could not be estimated because of the low event rate.

The 75% event-free figure applies to the 20 patients in long-term follow-up, rather than every patient treated in the original trial.

How the treatment works

JELMYTO is approved to treat adults with low-grade upper tract urothelial cancer. Its reverse-thermal gel combines mitomycin with a hydrogel that changes from a chilled liquid to a gel at body temperature, allowing drug exposure in the upper urinary tract for four to six hours.

The treatment can cause serious side effects, including narrowing or obstruction of the ureter and bone marrow problems. UroGen said real-world data on JELMYTO use from the uTRACT Registry are pending.
