The Gujarat groundnut crop is likely to fall 20.5% to 33.30 lakh tonnes in the 2026-27 kharif season, a field survey by the Solvent Extractors’ Association of India (SEA) estimated. The state produced 41.88 lakh tonnes in 2025-26.

Key Takeaways

  • The survey estimates lower planted area and yield across Gujarat than in the previous season.
  • Saurashtra’s groundnut output is forecast to decline 19.8%, though district estimates vary.

Gujarat groundnut crop outlook

SEA estimated the 2026-27 crop from an area of about 20.71 lakh hectares, with a yield of 1,608 kilograms per hectare. In 2025-26, Gujarat’s crop covered 22.02 lakh hectares and yielded 1,902 kilograms per hectare.

The association said deficient rainfall in some Saurashtra districts had adversely affected the crop in certain areas. Its assessment is an estimate, not a final production result.
