The Kawhi Leonard injury will keep the Toronto Raptors forward out for at least a week because of swelling in his left knee, the team announced on October 27, 2026. Medical imaging revealed no acute injury, and Leonard will be reevaluated in one week.

Kawhi Leonard injury and treatment

The Raptors said Leonard will undergo a treatment and rehabilitation program to address the swelling. The team did not give a return date.

Leonard played in Toronto’s two wins to start the 2026–27 NBA season but missed Sunday’s loss to Minnesota because of the swelling. The 35-year-old previously dealt with severe right knee injuries during the 2021 and 2023 playoffs.

Return to Toronto

The Raptors acquired Leonard from the Los Angeles Clippers in an offseason trade that was completed after a resolution in the Clippers’ salary cap circumvention scandal. Leonard, who helped Toronto win the 2019 NBA title, signed a two-year, $115 million contract extension with the Raptors last month.

In a social media post, Leonard said missing time was frustrating and that he was focused on returning to full health.
