India fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar says T20 bowling can still control a game despite conditions that increasingly favor batters. His comments came after India won the third T20 international in Wellington, during his first international series in nearly four years.

Key Takeaways

  • Kumar said adaptability helps good bowlers remain consistent despite small boundaries and a narrow margin for error.
  • The 36-year-old credited his Indian Premier League performances over the past two years for his return to the India side.

Why Kumar believes T20 bowling can still shape games

Kumar acknowledged that conditions often favor batters, but said bowlers retain influence because they deliver the ball and can choose where to land it.

He pointed to consistent performances by good bowlers in the Indian Premier League and in the current series as examples of adapting to the format. He also praised the current generation of batters for playing fearlessly and looking to hit every ball.

International return and domestic plans

Kumar, who made his T20 international debut in 2012, said the format has become more demanding and requires maturity from new players. He said younger Indian fast bowlers have gained experience in the IPL and remain eager to learn.

Asked about his one-day international ambitions, Kumar said he was not thinking too far ahead. He plans to continue playing domestic cricket, including the Mushtaq Ali and Vijay Hazare competitions.
