Crypto hacks 2026 reached 322 incidents by October 30, more than twice the number recorded in all of 2025, according to DefiLlama. The count came a day after an attack on Binance that blockchain analytics firm TRM Labs estimated at $6.36 billion.
Key Takeaways
- DefiLlama’s 2026 incident count surpassed its previous annual peak in 2024.
- Binance pledged to cover losses from the October 29 attack, while some stolen assets have been frozen.
Crypto Hacks 2026 Surpass Previous Peak
The DefiLlama incident database recorded 322 hacks for 2026 as of October 30, with two months remaining in the year. Its annual count was already higher than the previous peak in 2024, after falling in 2025.
Other trackers reported differing counts for the first half of 2026: Immunefi logged 207 incidents, CertiK counted 344 and SlowMist recorded 182. Their figures vary with how each tracker counts incidents.
Binance Attack Dominates Losses
TRM Labs estimated that an attacker moved approximately $6.36 billion from Binance wallets across ten blockchains on October 29. The firm assessed that Binance’s hot-wallet signing infrastructure was likely compromised; Binance co-CEO Richard Teng said the company had found no evidence of a wallet private-key leak.
Binance pledged to cover its losses, and about $3 billion of the stolen proceeds had been frozen. A freeze does not by itself mean the assets have been recovered.
