The GM stock listing is expected to move from the New York Stock Exchange to the Nasdaq Global Select Market on November 17, 2026, after General Motors’ board authorized the voluntary transfer. Nasdaq has approved the new listing.

GM stock listing transfer schedule

General Motors expects its common stock to stop trading on the NYSE at the close of trading on November 16 and begin trading on Nasdaq the following day. The shares will retain the GM ticker symbol.

The change affects the exchange on which the shares trade, not the shares themselves. Investors holding GM stock do not need to take action because of the transfer.

Board approves bylaw amendments

The board also approved amendments to the company’s bylaws that will take effect when its common stock begins trading on Nasdaq. They update the independence criteria in the definition of an independent director to reflect the expected Nasdaq listing.

General Motors did not disclose a specific reason for changing exchanges in its filing.
