JSW Steel volume is expected to be 8% to 9% higher in the second half than in the first six months, the Indian steelmaker said on October 27, 2026. Chief Executive Jayant Acharya also expects price increases and operational efficiencies to help offset higher costs.

JSW Steel volume outlook and costs

The volume increase is an expectation rather than a reported result. Price increases taken in September and October are expected to help the company counter rising costs.

Acharya said margin pressure should ease as JSW Steel pursues efficiencies, including larger blast furnaces, a better raw-material mix and cost management.

Coking coal projects

JSW Steel is developing coking coal mines internationally to secure raw-material supply, Acharya said. Its interests include a 30% stake in an Australian operation.

Construction is also under way in Mozambique, where the project is expected to yield about 11 million tons of hard coking coal. No production date was specified.
