Bulk cooking is a way to manage grocery costs for many Australians surveyed in research commissioned by Samsung Australia, with 62% saying they have prepared meals in bulk specifically to save money.
Key Takeaways
- The February 2026 survey found that 69% of respondents believed bulk cooking reduced their weekly shopping bill.
- A third of respondents said limited refrigerator space stopped them from bulk cooking more often.
Bulk cooking and household budgets
Samsung released the findings on October 28, 2026. PureProfile conducted the survey in February among a nationally representative sample of 1,008 Australians aged 18 to 95.
The findings reflect respondents’ perceptions and reported habits, rather than measured savings. In addition to the 62% who said they had bulk cooked to save money, 72% agreed that it reduced their weekly stress. Among respondents aged 25 to 29, that figure was 87%.
The survey also found that 59% believed bulk cooking helped them meet health and nutrition goals, while 56% planned to use weekends to prepare meals in bulk.
Refrigerator space limits meal preparation
Some 34% of respondents said they wanted to bulk cook more often but their refrigerator was not big enough. Nearly a quarter, or 24%, admitted to stacking containers dangerously to fit prepared meals inside.
Samsung’s release also promoted its refrigerator range. The company cited separate February 2026 research showing that larger capacity and energy efficiency were the top features desired by Australian consumers considering a Samsung refrigerator.
