Amazon India EV fleet plans for 2027
Amazon outlined the expansion on October 27, 2026. Its overall transportation fleet is currently around 15,000 vehicles, and the company expects most of the expanded fleet to be electric, ranging from two-wheelers to larger trucks.
The additional vehicles will support shipments between facilities, across cities and along national freight corridors, said Abhinav Singh, Amazon’s vice president of operations for India, Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Africa.
Singh said Amazon reached its earlier goal of 10,000 electric vehicles in 2024, a year ahead of its 2025 target. He also cited government EV programs as a tailwind for adoption.
Tata trucks and charging infrastructure
The planned Tata Motors trucks will serve Amazon’s middle-mile network, which moves goods between facilities. A subsequent phase aims to expand deployment onto major national highways, including the 2,800-kilometer Delhi–Bengaluru–Chennai corridor along NH48.
Amazon is also setting up more charging yards, where multiple vehicles can be fast-charged simultaneously. Its existing yards are near fulfillment centers in Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai, Singh said.
The company also uses biodiesel vehicles and rail transport in its logistics network. Its other vehicle-manufacturer partners include Ashok Leyland, Mahindra & Mahindra, Kinetic Green and Altigreen.
