Who can attend the Wisconsin construction academy?
Destinations Career Academy of Wisconsin announced the launch on October 27, 2026, in partnership with Let’s Build Together Wisconsin. The pathway is available to Northeastern Wisconsin students enrolled in the tuition-free online high school.
The program combines 120 hours of career and technical education coursework with more than 60 hours of hands-on industry experience. Students can work alongside trade professionals and explore carpentry, pipe trades, heavy equipment operation and general construction before choosing a specific path.
Union partners and workforce needs
The academy’s union partners include UA Local 400 Pipe Trades, the Northern Midwest Regional Council of Carpenters and International Union of Operating Engineers Local 139. WRTP | BIG STEP is a training partner, while Kinect M1 is a consulting partner.
The academy says the initiative is intended to help address workforce needs, with Wisconsin construction job openings anticipated to increase 11.8% by 2032. The program offers pre-apprenticeship pathways and opportunities to build relationships for future apprenticeships; it does not announce guaranteed placements.
