Raymond earnings show aerospace growth
Aerospace and defence revenue increased from ₹81 crore in the same quarter a year earlier and from ₹123 crore in the April–June quarter. Operating profit, measured by EBITDA, also rose 72% year on year to ₹29 crore, with a 21% margin.
Raymond attributed the gains to higher production for global manufacturers, new products and a shift toward making complex subsystems in India for large international suppliers. The company said easing supply-chain problems and expanded capacity positioned it to deliver on a growing order book.
Company-wide results and auto components
Total income across Raymond rose 21% to ₹683 crore. Profit before tax and one-time items increased to ₹42 crore from ₹19 crore a year earlier.
Revenue in the larger precision technology and auto components business rose 15% to ₹471 crore. Raymond said exports of parts for hybrid vehicles helped, as did global companies looking beyond China for suppliers.
Engineering expansion
Raymond is building new plants in Andhra Pradesh, with about ₹510 crore allocated to aerospace and about ₹430 crore to precision technology and auto components. Chairman and Managing Director Gautam Hari Singhania said the facility was progressing on schedule.
In the first six months of the year, spending on plant, equipment and intangible assets rose to about ₹76 crore from ₹39 crore a year earlier.
Founded in 1925 and known for fabrics, Raymond has separated its lifestyle and real estate businesses, leaving an engineering company. It announced a ₹682 crore deal to buy a 59.25% stake in Maini Precision Products in November 2023, marking its entry into aerospace, defence and electric vehicle components.
