Preliminary six-month data from a study comparing Xiamen Innovax Biotech’s HPV vaccine Cecolin 9 with Gardasil 9 were presented at the International Papillomavirus Society’s annual conference in Athens, held October 22–25, 2026.
HPV vaccine study spans Ghana and the Philippines
Dr. Nana A. Ansah of Ghana’s Navrongo Health Research Centre presented the preliminary analysis from PATH’s single-dose HPV vaccine immunobridging study, known as SHINE I or CVIA 104.
The randomized, double-blind Phase 3 study compares the immune response and safety of a single dose of Cecolin 9 with Gardasil 9 in girls aged 9–14 and young women aged 15–20. It is being conducted in Ghana and the Philippines.
The company’s October 27 announcement did not disclose numerical results from the analysis. A summary of the study’s findings is expected in 2028.
Innovax’s vaccine portfolio
Innovax said its HPV vaccine portfolio includes Cecolin, a two-strain vaccine certified by the World Health Organization, and Cecolin 9, a nine-strain vaccine launched in China in 2025.
At the conference, the company also discussed vaccine development, scientific evidence, access and international cooperation with attendees.
