Jio Platforms Managing Director Akash Ambani outlined a Jio AI strategy aimed at making artificial intelligence, cloud computing and space-based connectivity accessible across India, speaking at the company’s stock market listing on October 28, 2026.
Key Takeaways
- Ambani said Jio’s next phase would extend beyond its first decade of expanding data access.
- Jio shares listed at a 21.3% premium to the IPO price.
Jio AI strategy looks beyond connectivity
Ambani said Jio wants to broaden access to technologies including AI, cloud computing, connected devices and connectivity from space. He described the goal as building a digital society in which connectivity, computing and intelligence work together across India’s languages and communities.
Reliance Industries’ 2024–25 annual report described Jio’s satellite communications plans, including the development of its own platform and a partnership with SpaceX to offer Starlink broadband services in India. The listing-day remarks set out an ambition rather than a timetable for making the technologies available to every Indian.
Listing follows strong IPO demand
Jio’s ₹30,200 crore initial public offering was fully subscribed within 95 minutes of launch. Ambani said it attracted more than ₹7.5 lakh crore in demand and over 1.3 crore applications.
Ambani said Jio now serves more than 540 million customers through its platforms. He called the listing a new beginning and said the company would need to maintain high standards in technology, service and execution as it expands.
